We Love Small Groups

Small groups help our church to foster connections, grow in faith, and live life on mission. Salem exists to glorify God, make disciples who pursue Jesus, and share His story. Discipleship in small group settings is an essential part of this mission. We have multiple small group offerings on Sundays and weekdays. Learn more under the tabs below!

Sundays

Bible Fellowship Groups

We offer discipleship opportunities on Sundays at 9:40 AM and 11:00 AM. We call these Bible Fellowship Groups, or BFGs for short. They're a place to connect, grow and belong each Sunday morning. They also do hands-on missions through a variety of projects serving our community and beyond. We have BFGs for all ages, and we encourage you to visit more than one group to find the one where you feel most comfortable.

Our Special Needs group is called "Precious Jewels".  The primary aim of this ministry is to support children with special needs and their families and allow them the opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ in a safe, loving environment where their individual needs can also be met.  Group Description
College Room D118 Led by Brent and Robin Blanton
The college and career class is primarily made up of young adults between 18–25 taking a gap year between high school and college, attending college, technical schools, or grad school. We make disciples by studying books of the Bible and by using church-approved curriculum. We also incorporate discussions centered around real-life applications of the verses we study. The college and career BFG classes meet regularly for coffee, lunches, and game nights. This class is also involved in The Collective Bible study (for folks between ages 18-30), fellowship activities, and service projects.
Young Adult 1 Room D215 Led by Mark Thompson and Matthew Yates
The Young Adult 1 class is made up of couples in their late 20’s and early 30’s, most with young children. We do topical book studies in addition to studying the Bible, all with the goal of growing closer to God and closer to each other through fellowship. The class meets occasionally outside of Sunday mornings to serve others and fellowship together.
Mid-Adult 1 Room C218 Led by David and Heather Dawson
This Mid-Adult class is primarily made up of couples in their 30s and 40s with kids in preschool and elementary school. We make disciples by studying the Bible, many times using Bible Studies for Life as a guide. Our class spends a lot of time serving in the soccer ministry, kids ministry, and the music ministry. We gather outside of class for fellowship and Bible study as well.
Mid-Adult 2 Room C224 Led by Jeff and Marsha Fisher
The Mid-Adult 2 class is made up of parents with elementary and middle-school aged children. We have nicknamed our class “Parents Under Construction.” We have a variety of Bible studies: topical, verse-by-verse and once a year we go through a parenting study together. Most of the projects or gatherings we schedule as a class include our kids.
Median Adult 2 Room D132 Led by John and Kim Powell
The Median Adult 2 Class is made up of people in their 40’s and 50’s with various family backgrounds. This class teaches primarily from the Gospel Project curriculum, but also does different book and topical studies throughout the year. The class loves to serve together and get together outside of the Sunday morning BFG hour.
Median Adult 3 Room D128 Led by Bob Dascombe
The Median Adult 3 class is made up primarily of married couples in their 50’s and 60’s that are empty-nesters. This class uses church-provided study guides and topical book studies throughout the year. This BFG promotes lively class discussions, ongoing prayer requests through weekly emails, and fellowship opportunities outside of class. Sound Bible teaching and genuine fellowship are hallmarks of this group.
Median Adult 4 Room C226 Led by Brian Beachum
The Median Adult 4 class is made up of singles and married couples in their 40’s to 60’s. The class uses the Gospel Project to study the Bible. This class also loves to fellowship together outside of class, serve alongside each other in different ministries, and encourage each other through prayer.
Median Adult 6 Room C220 Led by Donna McKinney
This class is primarily made up of singles and married couples in their 50’s and 60’s. Median Adult 6 mainly studies from the Master Work curriculum. This class serves together in a monthly missions project, is involved in the community, and encourages each other by prayer and fellowship. 
Mandarin to English Chapel Classroom Led by Kathy Beckett
The Mandarin to English BFG is for Chinese-speaking people who desire to study the Bible, but need the help of a translator to completely understand English. We study a book of the Bible verse-by-verse, allowing time for questions and discussion. We also host events to give Salem opportunities to fellowship and learn about the Chinese culture.
Women of All Ages Room D122 Led by Windie Cronrath
The Women of All Ages class is made up of single and married women of all different ages. This class studies from the Explore the Bible curriculum, and loves to support ministries in and outside of Salem. The Women of All Ages class stands on prayer and loves to encourage one another throughout the week.
Son Rise Blend Room D128 Led by Jim Simmons, Phil Austin
The Son Rise Blend is primarily made up of empty-nesters in their 50’s and 60’s. They love being in the community and serving outside of Salem. They also study different Bible studies throughout the year.
Mixed Adult Room D211 Led by Nick and Sue Sennert
The Mixed Adult class is made up of singles and married couples in their 30’s to 70’s. This class goes verse-by-verse through different books of the Bible, and enjoys supporting the advancement of the Gospel together. They regularly spend time with other BFG classes and fellowship often throughout the year. 
Multi-Aged 1 Room D134 Led by Jeff Sommerville
The Multi-Aged 1 class is made up of people in their 50’s to 80’s. This class alternates between topical studies and studies through books of the Bible. Prayer is very important to this class and they love fellowshipping outside of the normal BFG hour.
Senior Adult Room D138 Led by Gordon Perkins
The Senior Adult class is the largest class of our Senior Adult Ministry. This class is active in service, fellowship, and prayer. They also study from the Explore the Bible curriculum.

This class is made up of young professionals in their 20’s and 30’s. The Young Professionals class does different topical studies, along with shorter Bible curriculum. This class loves to get together outside of class for encouragement and fellowship. This class also loves to serve together in various ministries inside and outside of Salem.
Young Married Room D136 Led by Justin and Megan Carmona
The Young Married class is primarily made up of couples in their 20’s and early 30’s. This class makes disciples by studying books of the Bible verse-by-verse, but also specific topical book studies periodically. This class also meets regularly outside of Sunday mornings to serve together and fellowship.
Young Adult 2 Room D211 Led by Rob & Alyssa Powell
The Young Adult 2 class is made up of couples in their late 20’s to early 40s who have kids from birth to middle school age. We make disciples by studying books of the Bible and specific topical book studies. The class meets outside of Sunday mornings to serve our community, attend church events, and fellowship together.
Multi-Aged 2 Room D134 Led by Josh Komis, Ranson Murphy
The Multi-Aged 2 class is made up of singles and married couples in their 20’s to 50’s. The class goes through different books of the Bible verse-by-verse, and meets once a month for fellowship.
Median Adult 7 Room D132 Led by Joe and Loretta Campbell
The Median Adult 7 class is made up of singles and married couples in their 40’s to 60’s. They study primarily study in-depth verse-by-verse through different books of the Bible.

Weekdays

Community Groups and Discipleship Classes make up our discipleship opportunities during the week.

Community Groups

In-home Community Groups meet weeknights (currently Mondays and Thursdays) and offer Bible study, fellowship, and care / prayer support. Groups are mixed ages, married and single, and average about 12 people per group.
